When crafting with felt, ALWAYS use either a wool-blend or 100% wool felt. A few of my favourite shops for purchasing felt include Benzie Design and The Felt Pod.
Fiskars Gingher Dressmaker’s Shears I’ve been using these scissors for years and they’re the only shears I would ever use. Excellent for cutting felt.
Fiskars Curved Craft Scissors. Perfect for freehand cutting curved or circular patterns.
Fiskars Easy Action Shears. These are spring loaded which makes for easy cutting. They are excellent for free hand cutting.
DMC Embroidery Scissors. I’ve used these snips for years (although mind have a different pattern on them) and I love them. They’re perfect for snipping threads and cutting into corners of patterns.
Surebonder H-195 Mini Glue Gun. This glue gun has a precision tip which makes it essential to creating felt florals.
Surebonder All Purpose Mini Glue Sticks. Only Surebonder brand glue sticks can be used in a Surebonder glue gun.
Sizzix Big Shot Plus die cutting machine. A die cutting machine is a huge time saver if you are producing many similar items. The Big Shot Plus is the perfect size for working with felt sheets.
Scrapbook.com has a huge selection of dies and die cutter accessories. It’s my go-to site for all things die cutting.
Simon Says Stamp also has a large selection of steel rule dies and wafer thin dies. They also have fantastic customer service.
Aleene’s Stiffen Quik fabric stiffener. This product is great for adding structure to felt florals so they won’t flop over.
Quilter’s Freezer Paper Sheets. Freezer paper is great for cutting out intricate patterns out of felt. It will iron on to your felt and will easily peel off again once your pattern is cut.
Fine Tip Sharpie Pens. These pens are great for adding colour details to your felt florals for a little dimension.
Olfa Self-Healing Cutting Mat. An excellent cutting surface for felt and using a rotary cutter.
Fiskars Rotary Cutter. Easily slices through felt to produce nice crisp cuts.
Omnigrip, Non-Slip Quilter’s Ruler. Combined with the cutting mat and rotary cutter this ruler completes the set for precise cutting.
18 Gauge Floral Wire for creating realistic felt flower stems.
Wilton’s Floral Stamens for flower centers.
Heat n Bond is great for fusing layers of felt together when they are too small to be stitched or glued.
