My son’s party went remarkably well! No one cried or fought or anything! He had 10 school friends attend, plus his cousins and other family. And everyone had fun!

I only managed to snap a couple of badly lit and fuzzy photos during the party, I was super busy running around keeping everything running smoothly!

28 Birthday Party Favour Ideas for Kids

28 Birthday party favour ideas for kids. Lots of free printables for birthday goodie bags. Awesome non-candy favor ideas for kid's birthday parties. Reach 'super-mom' status with these super-creative treat bag ideas for a kid's party.

One year we made the mistake of not having treat bags at my son’s birthday party. Rivers were cried. And we learned our lesson in a hurry. But the thing with treat bags is that they have to hit 3 points; not contain too much sugar, not cost too much money, and be fun for the recipient. It’s a tall order. So for future reference I’ve rounded up 28 of the best birthday party favour ideas that I could find.  Most of these ideas include free printables, but a few of them will require a little more diy’ing on your part.

I tried to find lots of non-candy options, mainly because it drives me nuts when my boys come home from a party with loot bags full of sugar. I’m not anti-sugar by any means, but things like suckers, fizzy sugar powder, ring pops, etc make my kids go bat shit crazy. Usually little chocolates or cookies don’t affect them too much.

Some of these birthday party favour ideas are actually just a design idea for the bag or a printable topper, you’ll have to come up with the treat ideas.  I usually just cruise through the Dollar store to find some appropriate treat bag fillers. But now I can also reference this post well in advance of future parties to get some more creative ideas!

One of my favourite things about Valentine’s Day is scrolling through all the entertaining card ideas found on Pinterest. I aspire to be equally clever!

I’ll be making these highlighter Valentines for my oldest’s class, I haven’t decided what I’m doing for my little guy’s class yet.

I managed to find packs of 5 highlighters at the Dollarama for $1.25, and I’ll need 4 packs. It’ll cost me a few dollars more than simply purchasing a box of Pixar themed Valentine’s cards, but it’s worth it.

I think it’s important to make a little effort for these kinds of occasions. Growing up I always made all of my Valentines, my mother certainly wasn’t going to buy the premade cards! But I enjoyed it, and honestly I still enjoy now!

I want my boys to know that I value the things that are important to them, and giving Valentines to their class mates is one of those things.

I found the cute bee printed ribbon at my local sewing store, it was a great find! I thought it was really appropriate too, you know ‘save the bees, don’t fill their wildflower fields with plastic’. That’s how the saying goes, right?! Haha

I found this ribbon on Amazon, it’s similar to my bees. But you’ll likely find an appropriate ribbon at your local craft store.

Here’s what you need for this project:

Bee Ribbon, Cotton, 3/4 yard per produce bag, at least 3/4″ wide
Satin Ribbon, 1 yard per bag, 1/4″-3/8″ wide
White Cotton Voile Fabric, 1 yard will make 4 bags

use white cotton voile to make diy zero waste produce bags

I found some cotton voile at my local fabric store, it was about $12/meter, which is pretty inexpensive for 4 produce bags!

I used voile because it is super lightweight and you can mostly see through it. So it won’t add much weight to your produce and the cashier will still be able to read the stickers through the bag. 🙂
