I went to the Dollarama the other day to see if I could find some inspiration for Valentine’s Day projects. I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with myself. Haha! I love a good pun, so I came up with “You high-light up my life!” ๐Ÿ˜€ I hope I’m not the only one who is completely amused by these punny printable DIY valentines!

Amusing and free printable DIY valentines cards. All you need is a few packs of highlighter markers from the Dollar Store to create these really fun Valentine's for kids!

One of my favourite things about Valentine’s Day is scrolling through all the entertaining card ideas found on Pinterest. I aspire to be equally clever!

I’ll be making these highlighter Valentines for my oldest’s class, I haven’t decided what I’m doing for my little guy’s class yet.

I managed to find packs of 5 highlighters at the Dollarama for $1.25, and I’ll need 4 packs. It’ll cost me a few dollars more than simply purchasing a box of Pixar themed Valentine’s cards, but it’s worth it.

If you’re looking for even more punny Valentines ideas, check out this post of 17 free printables.

I think it’s important to make a little effort for these kinds of occasions. Growing up I always made all of my Valentines, my mother certainly wasn’t going to buy the premade cards! But I enjoyed it, and honestly I still enjoy now!

I want my boys to know that I value the things that are important to them, and giving Valentines to their class mates is one of those things.

I used a 1/8″ hole punch to punch 4 small holes in the cards and a length of 1/8″ satin ribbon to tie the markers to the cards. Easy peasy!
