I’m keeping these posts short and sweet ๐ These are very simple and easy crafts to make, so they don’t require a lot of explanation. Once you cut out the patterns you’re half way there!
I turned this DIY felt donut into a Christmas ornament, but you could also exclude the string loop and it instantly becomes play food! Or make a dozen of them and string them together into a fun garland.
Included in this sweet treat diy series is also a cupcake and an ice cream cone. All three patterns are on the same printable, you only need to sign up once to get all the patterns.
DIY Felt Donut
Materials
Felt – I used this felt in Seaside and Rose
Polyfil or wool stuffing
Tweezers – for easier stuffing
Embroidery Thread – to match the pastry and in 3 contrasting colours
8″ String – optional
Printed pattern – make sure you print it at 100% so the sizing is correct.
Embroidery scissors or snips
Step 1
Use a straight stitch in 3 contrasting colours to create sprinkle stitches that secure the icing to the pastry. Random little stitches are best!
Step 2
Use a matching thread and a blanket stitch to sew the edges of the inner circle together all the way around.
Step 3
Continue using a blanket stitch to close up the outer edge of the DIY felt donut, using the tweezers to gently stuff it as you go around.
Step 4 (Optional)
Add a loop of string before you seal up the donut if you want to use the felt donut as an ornament.
That’s it! See I told you it was a simple project!
