This free printable colouring page was meant as a simple little sentiment, over a simple little garden. But it’s turned into so much more than that in the wake of recent events.
I originally designed this prayer colouring page just as a pretty printable for springtime and as encouragement during this time of social isolation.
But then this horrible week happened.
My home province suffered a devastating mass shooting and like most Nova Scotians right now, my heart hurts.
And it’s hard to know what to do with that hurt. Because I didn’t personally know any of the victims. But I’m so profoundly sad anyway. That this could happen to people who were just trying to peacefully live their lives. That so many families will never be whole again. That this could happen so close to my home.
It’s weighing so heavily on my heart right now. I can’t turn away from the news because I want answers. I need to understand why this happened. But the truth is, we may never know.
So many things are completely outside of my control right now. So many. And it’s hard. Life is really hard. I can’t pretend that it’s not.
But I can control my actions and my words and how I respond to sadness and struggle.
And the only way to combat hatred and anger and unkindness is with love. As much love as we can give. An ocean of love to drown the darkness.
I don’t normally get this personal in this space. I pretty much stick to sharing fun DIY stuff and helpful mom stuff. But here I am. Sad and heart-broken and wanting to share how I feel.
And what helps me when life gets heavy is distraction. Like a puzzle or a mindless tv show or a sewing project or a colouring page.
So here is an uplifting colouring page for these very dark times. With a small prayer to help manage my thoughts. “Where there is hatred, let me sow love.”
I’m trying. I’m sure you are too. Let’s sow love, together.

I colour because I like it and it calms me, not because I’m some great master of markers. So forgive my rudimentary colouring skills!

I made these cute little felt bunnies for another post, (which you can find here) but then it turns out they are the perfect size to fit in this little prayer garden of a colouring page!

Let’s get through this together friends. The darkness won’t win.

That is so pretty. I made few positive colouring pages myself when all this craziness started. I find great comfort in a little quiet colouring sometimes.
