I’ve been doing a lot of self-reflection lately. A little dreaming, a little soul-searching, a little evaluating of my life in general. I want to figure out if I’m living my best life or not. And WHY I’m not, if that’s the case. Where are the limitations coming from? What is making me believe that my dreams are out of reach? How can I make daily changes that will help me reach my long term goals? That kind of stuff. I know, it’s heavy stuff. But at the end of it all, I want to be able to look back on my life and know that I did everything in my power to lead an amazing life. Here are some thought-provoking journal prompts for moms to get us all started.

Are you thriving in life or do you feel stuck in a rut?

That this life was everything I had always wanted, but it turns out it was actually kind of a let down. And then of course the crushing guilt about feeling disappointed. Lol. Motherhood is one crazy emotional roller coaster!

20 Super Cute Repurposed T-Shirt DIYs

20 super cute repurposed t-shirt diys! Upcycle your old tees into home decor, adorable accessories and practical baby items. Repurposed t-shirt diys are a great way to practice zero waste and make use of clothes that still have a little life left in them!

Recently I’ve been doing some research on textile recycling. I’m continually trying to make zero-waste decisions in my life and figuring out what to do with old clothes and linens is one of them. The statistics about how many textiles end up in landfills are fairly appalling. 🙁 Most of us have a few sad or too-small t-shirts stuffed into the backs of our dressers. So rather than send them to the landfill or have to part with sentimental items, I’ve rounded up 20 repurposed t-shirt DIYs. So we can craft our way to a happier planet!

Some of these projects would be great ways to save t-shirts that have meaning to you but that you don’t wear anymore. Like concert tees, or the t-shirts from your camp counsellor days.

I love these repurposed t-shirt DIYs because A. they keep some textiles out of the landfill and B. they are super frugal.

It’s too easy to run out to the mall or go online and give in to consumerism culture. Gone are the days of making the most of what we already have.

I’m on a bit of a personal journey towards minimalism and simplifying and I’m at the stage where I’m physically stopping myself from engaging in retail therapy to sooth my complex emotions. I really don’t have the money or the space for that nonsense anymore. Maybe you don’t either. So let’s do this together. Finding ways to re-love the belongings we already have and saving money to pursue the dreams that really matter. One t-shirt at a time!

Ok, enough about me. Here’s the roundup!

Reversible DIY Cowl with Crochet Edge – T-Shirt Upcycle

Reversible DIY cowl tutorial. Upcycle a couple of t-shirts into a cozy cowl with a pretty crochet edge. A simple zero-waste project to breathe new life into sad items!

In my journey to continue reducing the amount of waste my family produces, I’ve been trying to make as many zero-waste decisions as possible. While cleaning out my closet, I found two t-shirts that were too sad and tired to be given away. Since we already have an abundance of rags, I saved these t-shirts until I came up with a good way to upcycle them. And I finally did a couple of weeks ago! I turned 2 old t-shirts into a pretty, cozy and reversible DIY cowl!

This t-shirt upcycle is a great way to breathe new life into tired clothing. This would be an awesome way to re-use a graphic tee, or something that’s too sentimental to part with! In my case, it was simply a matter of trying to avoid sending them to the landfill.

You should also check out this post of 20 more ideas for repurposing old t-shirts.

As I wrote this post I realized there were easier ways I could have make the cowl, but oh well. Embrace the imperfections, right?! 😀

How to Keep Your Home Cool in the Summer

11 Tips for keeping your home cool in the summer and increase your energy efficiency!

This seems like a weird topic for me because it’s mid-May now and we actually just had hail last week. :O BUT, it is predicted that this summer will be the hottest on record. Last summer was pretty brutal, the humidity was out of control. (Seriously. My crown moulding buckled!)  So I want to plan ahead a little and prep for this summer’s heat wave extravaganza.  Standing around and complaining about what a scorcher it is might be fun, but it’s not going to make my home any cooler.  The tips below, however, are going to do a much better job of that.

Cut the clutter

You might love having a cozy home full of soft furnishings everywhere, but when the heat starts to settle in, all that softness can be as much of a pain as it is a comfort. During the summer, it’s better to switch out your cozy style for something a more minimalist. Not only is it going to help cool air circulate around the room a lot cooler and stop those soft furnishings from retaining more heat, but it’s also going to make it easier to clean.

You don’t want to spend the hottest days of the year cleaning around the home. Cutting the clutter can reduce the buildup of dust and dirt, making it a much quicker job. Who doesn’t want that?!
