Seriously though, didn’t I JUST write about Valentine’s Day? How is Easter here already!? Sigh…
We like to keep things pretty chill for Easter in my family. I mean, we do go to church like 37 times, hahaha, but other than that we don’t make big plans.
The kiddos will each get a little basket of treats, and we do an egg hunt. My mother usually joins us for a nice dinner.
And I try to put out a few fun Easter decorations. This year, I think our tablescape will include a few egg cactus pots, they’re #33 in this list of egg decorating ideas and I think the boys will loooove them!
But I’m also eyeing the marbelized eggs and the ones decorated with gold foil. So many awesome ideas to choose from!
And most of these Easter egg designs would be totally kid-friendly, I’m allll about those mess-free ideas like #7 & #30.
Before you leave, don’t forget to check out the Easter section, I’ve got a few more great posts for Easter including this cute bunny embroidery, and this round up of 24 Cute and Cheap DIY Easter Decorations!
Creative Egg Decorating Ideas
This shade of blue is divine!
It’s a scientific fact, kids love any project that requires a spray bottle.
A gold paint pen will make this project easy peasy!
These glitter eggs are so elegant.
5. Geode Eggs
My boys love anything rock or crystal related, they’ll love trying these geode eggs!
This project requires a Cricut machine. But if like me, you don’t have one, you could easily recreate this effect using small white letter stickers like these.
Oh how I love simplicity! You can achieve this look using a fine tip white paint pen. Another fun idea for kids to pull off.
8. Feather Eggs
These are so pretty. Although is it considered morbid to put feathers on an egg? I can’t decide. lol. These feathers would be cute!
These are one of my favourite egg decorating ideas from this list. So beautiful!
These are very detailed and unique.
11. Sprinkle Eggs
Sprinkles are timeless. Just like kindness.
12. Pantone Eggs
These are simply delightful!
13. Baby Chicks
Well, if they can never be real chicks, they might as well dress up like fake chicks! 😛
The tutorial for this idea is no longer available, but these chickies look fairly straight forward. The detailing is probably done with black sharpie and the beaks are simply a tiny square of orange paper folded in half and glued in place.
14. Gold Leaf Eggs
I’ve been dying to try a gold leaf project, this might just be the one!
15. Abstract Eggs
I love these neon colours.
16. Fruit & Veggies
17. Paper Flower Eggs
These kind of have a Trolls vibe, don’t they?
The tutorial for this design is also gone but I think we can figure this out on our own! I’d say the eggs have been painted with a few layers of acrylic paint, then the paper flowers glued on with dots of white glue. You could use a punch like this one to create the flowers or cut them out by hand!
Now you have an excuse to buy those pretty paper napkins you’ve been eyeing! This shop has an incredible selection of napkins for decoupage!
19. Tattoo Eggs
Somehow, with kids, we always seem to have an abundance of temporary tattoos lying around. They are a staple of birthday treat bags apparently. So our eggs will probably have Ninja Turtles on them. But gosh these tattoos sure are pretty!
If you don’t want to punch out your own confetti, it’s totally affordable to purchase it pre-cut in pretty colour combinations.
21. Burger Eggs
Oh stop it. So fun!
22. Foliage Eggs
Send the kiddos out to collect little botanical trimmings to decorate Easter eggs.
23. Money Bags
This definitely counts as creative Easter egg decorating! lol
This would be fun to do with kids and have them do fingerprints instead of dots.
25. Marble Eggs
These colours and patterns are gorgeous!
26. Ombre Eggs
I love the multi-toned ombre effect!
27. Chalkboard Eggs
A simple project using a pot of black chalkboard paint.
28. Lace Dyed Eggs
29. Silk Dyed Eggs
Another scientific fact is that all dads have never-worn ties at the back of the closet. Use them to create these pretty eggs instead!
30. Rice Shaker Eggs
Virtually mess-free way for kids to colour Easter eggs? Yes, please.
I love the subtle patterning created by the paper towel.
Shut the front door. These are too much! They’d be a great Easter table decor or to decorate window sills. You can grab a set of 10 little pots here for under $10!
These look so elegant!
You can never go wrong with a colour block approach.
There are literally hundreds of ways to decorate eggs, I had a hard time limiting myself to only 35 for this list! So I suspect this will turn into a yearly round-up of creative egg decorating ideas.
For now though, I sure hope you found something awesome here that you can make this year!
