March 22, 2023 by Laura Leave a Comment

Last Updated on March 2, 2026

Spring is in the air, the winter blues are starting to dissipate and renewed inspiration is taking hold. Brighter colours and joyful moods give me energy for new crafty ideas and with Easter just around the corner it’s time to plan some bunny themed crafts! To that end, I’ve rounded up 26 amazing DIY Easter basket tutorials you can use to surprise your little ones with Easter goodies!

26 Easter Basket Tutorials to make or sew. DIY Easter baskets that are beginner friendly to make for your kiddos. Easy sewing tutorials for fabric Easter baskets. How to make adorable Easter baskets to fill with treats and surprises for your little ones.

Just to be clear, this is a round up of physical DIY baskets. The actual containers to load up with Easter goodies. It’s not a list of gift basket themes or gift ideas.

When I googled “DIY Easter Baskets” I got lots of results for what to put in the baskets, but not as many ideas of how to make the baskets.  So if that’s what you’re also expecting in this post, then you’re in the wrong place. (But stick around and read the post anyway!) 😀

This post is all sewing tutorials, crochet ideas and no-sew crafting of baskets and bowls.

Easter Basket Tutorials

All of these Easter basket tutorials are free DIY ideas. Most of them are descriptions and instructions with measurements but without printable patterns.

Most of them are also beginner friendly. So don’t fret if you’re a newbie crafter trying to make a cute basket for your kiddo’s first Easter. You got this!

Alright, let’s get started!

1. Sew a Fabric Easter Basket

This would be a lovely toy basket when Easter is finished!

This tutorial includes machine embroidery for the bow or basket, but since most of us don’t have an embroidery machine, you can either leave that part out or hand embroider the name instead.

(This floral fabric pictured looks like Rifle Paper Co fabric to me but I couldn’t locate the exact print.)

2. Easy Felt Easter Basket

I love a project that requires buttons! I found a few adorable button options on Etsy that you’ll want to check out like these cute carrots and these sweet bunnies!

3. Crochet Bunny Cups

How cute are these?! I suspect they’d be pretty quick to make too if you use a thicker yarn. You could even add a little pom pom bunny tail to the back!

You can purchase a fuzzy pink safety nose from this listing. I know that safety eyes are widely available, but I had no idea there are noses too!

4. Mini Fabric Easter Basket

These fabrics are so sweet! I couldn’t track down the exact designs pictured here but I found some very cute alternatives. Check out this ‘Hop To It’ fabric and this watercolour bunnies fabric.

5. Quilted Easter Basket

Again with the adorable fabrics! I love the scrappy handle, it’s a great way to use up small pieces of precious fabrics from your collection.

6. Classic Crochet Easter Basket

The shades of pastel yarns are perfection.

7. Woven Felt Basket

A fun twist on a classic woven basket. And any excuse to make felt flowers, am I right?! I’ve got a few tutorials for free felt flowers you can find here.

8. Canvas Easter Basket

I think this DIY Easter basket tutorial would be very beginner friendly.

This style of basket is also great for using around the home when it’s no longer Easter!

9. DIY Dyed Rope Basket

One of these days I’m going to get around to trying a rope basket. They are so handy around the house and so beautiful!

10. No Sew Rope Basket

Get the kiddos involved in helping to dye the rope, I bet they’d love it!

11. Basket and Eggs

This DIY includes a tutorial for the fabric eggs too.

12. Ruffle Easter Basket

Who doesn’t love a ruffle?!

13. Crochet Mini Baskets

It’s too much cuteness. The crochet chicks are almost as adorable as my little felt chicks in egg houses! 😉

14. Drawstring Bunny Bags

These are perfect for egg hunting!

Easter Baskets to Make

15. Easter Bunny Basket

You can use a fun pop of colourful fabric for the ears.

16. Woven Cord Basket

A classic and sturdy woven Easter basket!

17. Fabric Egg Basket

This style of basket is great for displaying any decorated eggs you or your little ones have made. Check out this post of 35 Creative Egg Decorating Ideas to get inspired!

18.  Paper Watercolour Basket

The result might be a little delicate, you probably can’t reuse this type of basket year after year but you could certainly have some fun making these with your creative kiddos!

19. Knit Bunny Basket

The fluffy tail!

20. Braided Fabric Basket

Apparently I’m obsessed with pretty fabrics in this post! lol I think I must be trying to justify another trip to the fabric store…

21. Easter Basket Liner Pattern

This tutorial is just for the fabric liner that would go inside a sturdy wicker basket. It’s a great way to beautify something you may already have on hand (or can easily thrift)!

22. Simple Felt Basket

You need really thick, 3mm felt for this style of basket, Benzie Design has some in this listing, as well as The Felt Pod here.

23. Sewing Baskets

Technically these are sewing baskets, but I see no reason why they can’t be Easter baskets instead.

24. Fabric Petal Bowl

A non-traditional scrappy basket tutorial and I’m here for it!

Make a fabric petal bowl for Easter treats!

25. Fabric Scrap Rope Bowl

Another great way for making the most of your fabric scraps.

26. Paper Maché Fabric Bowls

Sometimes a no-sew tutorial is just the ticket. This would be a perfect project for the kids to help you with too.

That’s it for this list of free DIY Easter basket tutorials! I hope there is something here that suits your needs.

Happy Easter and happy crafting!
