Have you started making your holiday crafting plans yet? It sneaks up on me every year. I’ve been making my gift lists though and figuring out if there’s anyone left of my family and friends who I haven’t given a felt creation yet. Unlikely, lol. But these free felt ornament patterns are so sweet that hopefully my people won’t mind receiving more felt goodies this Christmas!

Since I’m currently in full ‘holiday-prep’ mode, buried under a mountain of ornaments I’m sewing for a wholesale order (please send tea & chocolate, thx) I’ll be keeping this post brief!
(You can follow along with what I’m in the midst of sewing by finding me on Instagram, @yellow_birdhouse)
I love finding felt freebies for you all, and the first 21 free felt ornament patterns I rounded up are here in this post.
All of the following patterns are hand sewn and I’d say most of them are beginner friendly too!

These doves are so lovely!
This looks like a great beginner friendly design.
I’d love to know where to find a fun sequin butterfly like that one!
Sweet snowflakes that match the doves above.

11. Mouse in a Sock

This lovely cat design lends itself well to being an ornament. You could replace the white ribbon with red or green for a festive alteration.
How do these squirrels have so much personality?!
If it’s got glitter, I’m on board.
These aren’t designed as Christmas ornaments, but I think if you simply swapped out the purples and blues for some green and gold, you could have a whole little Christmas village!
16. Christmas Bells
These felt bells are so beautiful! I love how so many of these felt ornament patterns use sequins.

A Few Paid Patterns
While there is an abundance of free felt ornament patterns to chose from, there are also a ton of gorgeous designs to discover on Etsy.
Pattern shopping on Etsy is a great way to support small businesses without blowing your Christmas budget. 😀
So I thought I’d include a few of my favourite paid patterns here in case you find them irresistible as well!

Ok, that’s a wrap! I gotta get back to sewing, I’ve got a pile of chickadees and letter ornament orders waiting for me. You can watch me pack up an order here and put my brand new custom bubble mailers from Sticker Mule to good use! (I was able to add my brand colours and graphics, I’m so happy with how they turned out!)
