Some day soon I hope to have a mantle that I can decorate seasonally.
It was always part of the plan to have a fireplace in the new house, but we decided to save the project for later so we could keep costs down. Now it looks like we’ll have to wait even longer for a fireplace because our vehicles are both falling apart. I have laugh to keep myself from crying. lol
But someday I’ll get that mantle and have a place for fun decor items.
For now, I stick with wall hangings and tablescapes and it works just fine!
After my family, wool felt is my one true love, so I picked some lovely DIY felt Valentine’s Day decorations to round up into this reference post.
I especially love the little envelopes in #13 and the gorgeous hearts in #11!
And if you’re looking for a source of beautiful wool blend or 100% wool felt, this shop is my favourite!
Felt Valentine’s Day Decorations
1. Felt & Fabric Heart Sachets
With a little dried lavender inside, these sachets would be a great Valentine’s Day gift.
2. I Lava You Hoop Art
This is an easy embroidery project that would be great for a kid’s bedroom or playroom.
3. Conversation Hearts
If you made these a little less tall, they would be perfect as play food cookies for a little kitchen!
4. Heart Table Runner
Technically this one is made with craft foam, but it can easily be made with felt instead.
5. Fortune Cookies
This is a really cute way to deliver small Valentine’s notes. Great for sending to school with the kiddos too!
6. Heart Tree Decoration
A sweet addition to a tablescape or mantle.
7. Floral Wreath
This darling wreath could work for springtime or Easter decor too.

10. Tree Hoop Art

11. Heart Mobile
I love the embroidered eyes on these hearts, it gives them a fun modern look!
12. Embroidered Valentine Catcher
This is my design but I haven’t written a separate post for it yet. You can still grab the pattern for the embroidered heart by clicking here.
Add the embroidery details to the felt heart first, then stitch it to the fabric in the hoop with a running stitch, leaving a gap at the top to slip in little notes! ๐
Use 2 strands of floss for all stitches. The vines use a stem stitch, the flowers are lazy daisies and the small stars are a straight stitch.
13. Valentine Envelopes
I’m slowly creating a collection of reusable holiday decor that we bring out year after year. I’m really on a mission to avoid plastic and single use decor. These little envelopes fit that mission perfectly and are a sweet idea for leaving love notes for your family.
14. Heart Branches
I think this one is made with paper hearts, but again that’s an easy peasy switch to using felt. Glitter felt would be fun too!
15. Crinkle Conversation Hearts
Valentine’s Day themed toys for your littlest loves!
16. Valentine Gnomes
What is it about gnomes that is so darn delightful?! ๐
17. Felt Ball Garland
This is one of my favourite shops for finding felt balls and shapes like hearts and rainbows for making garlands like these!
18. Heart Wreath
A lovely addition to a mantle or door.
19. Felt Rose Stems
An easy rolled rose DIY. You can make a dozen and give them as a bouquet!
There are so many awesome ideas for felt Valentine’s Day decorations out there, it was hard to limit myself to only 19! Maybe I’ll have to write a part 2 to this post next year.
