These are all patterns or tutorials for making your own DIY Christmas gnome crafts. There’s a mix of styles and craft mediums too. A lot of wool felt, yes, but also polymer clay, quilting, wood blocks and crochet.
This list contains a mix of free and paid designs. But I’ll label all the patterns that are paid, I won’t leave you guessing. ๐ While I love finding (and creating) free content and ideas for you, there are some really talented creators on Etsy that have designed gorgeous gnome-y patterns that I wanted to include. There are 8 paid patterns and 9 free designs to choose from.
The gnome crafts trend doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. (And there are designs for gnomes of every season and holiday. I’ve spotted some very cute Valentine’s Day gnomes too.) So go ahead and add as many timeless and adorable gnome crafts to your holiday decor as you please!
1. Ornament Pattern Set with Gnome (Paid)
This is my design, so I shamelessly put it first on the list! ๐ This pattern set includes an embroidered toadstool house, Christmas tree and sleepy snowman along with the gnome.
(I do have a few free felt ornament patterns available too, find them here in the freebies section. But I can confirm that I do a happy little dance every time a purchase is made in my shop!)
2. Felt Gnome with Tree (Etsy)
Oh my goodness, the details on this delightful little gnome are too much. The bells and the mittens and the perfectly greying beard!
3. Polymer Clay Gnomes
These little clay cuties would be adorable on a mantle or tucked into some holiday greenery. You could use more Christmas-y colours for the hats if you prefer too. And then paint tiny stars on them! Ohh my imagination is running with this idea….
4. Crochet Scandinavian Gnome (Etsy)
It’s the pointy little elf boots for me! Ok and maybe the suspenders and striped socks. So stinkin’ cute!
5. Yarn Gnome Ornaments

The eyebrows are a whole vibe.
I think these wooden gnomes would be a fantastic gift idea, they’d definitely make the recipient smile! If you’re looking for more DIY gift ideas, check out this post of 25 DIY Christmas Gift Ideas for Friends.
7. Whimsical Elf Gnomes (Etsy)
I love non-traditional colours like these blues for Christmas.

Another small DIY felt gnome ornament.
11. Simple Gnome Embroidery Pattern (Etsy)
You could stitch this embroidered gnome design in a small hoop and gift it as an ornament!

And finally, a no-sew gnome project with a giant pom pom on his hat. What’s not to love?!
